HONGTING(TING) SHEN
Graphic Designer | Motion Designer | Visual storyteller
Ting is a New York-based graphic designer and motion designer with a passion for interdisciplinary design. Her work spans across visual identity, publication design, exhibition design, branding, motion graphics, typeface design, and video production, blending research-driven insights with a strong visual language.
With extensive experience in production design and bookmaking, Ting specializes in crafting thoughtful, well-structured visual narratives through editorial layouts, typography, and material exploration. She has developed brand identities, custom typefaces, exhibition graphics, and motion-based storytelling, seamlessly integrating static and moving images to create engaging experiences.
She is highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro) and other industry-standard tools, as well as type design software, like Robofont. Always curious and open to experimentation, Ting continuously explores how frames, sequences, and perception shape meaning in both physical and digital spaces.
She often think of her design like a librarian—it doesn’t just show you things directly. It quietly organizes information and guides people through it step-by-step, helping them discover connections along the way. She would also compare it to a film storyboard: when all the frames come together, they start to play in your mind. For her, the point of design is to be clear and structured, but also gentle and human.
She is currently open to internship, full-time, part-time and freelance opportunities.
